\nA historical event, created by the Inca civilization, more than 6 centuries ago, to reverence, sacrifice and give offerings to the Sun God, the practices common to this civilization, formerly.

\nConsidered sons of the Sun God, the Incas dedicated their entire existence to them and everything around them.

\nWhen the previous agricultural year, which lasted from May to June, and the beginning of a new agricultural year in July, the Incas celebrated this transition very seriously.

\nThey then created this event held annually as the transition from a new year to the Inca civilization.

\nInti Raymi starts on June 24 and runs through August.

\nNormally Inti Raymi’s programming is released annually, but the main celebration takes place on June 24, usually.

\n9:00: <\/strong>Celebrations begin in Qoricancha, one of the main Temples, built by the Incas, for the praise of the Sun God. (Free admission, lasts approximately 30 min).

\n11:00: <\/strong>The event heads to the Plaza de Armas, where the participants stage the arrival of the Incas in the city. (also free entrance, lasts approximately 45 min.)

\n13:00: <\/strong>The main ceremony of the event takes place in Sacsayhuaman, an important archeological site of the region.
\n 
\nIn this main event, the Inca king staged the sacrifice of an alpaca while invoking the Sun God. (Limited tickets, sold according to the position of the bleachers, lasts approximately 1h and 30min).

\nDuring all the stages of the event, it is possible to note the current importance of the Cuzco people, in relation to the Inca culture and its ancestry.
