Day 1: Day 1: ATV Adventure in Maras and Moray, Scenic Train to Machu Picchu

After breakfast, at 06:30 hrs we will pick you up at your hotel to begin an exciting adventure through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, one of the most fascinating destinations in Peru. After a brief safety talk, we will ride quad bikes through the spectacular Andean landscapes until reaching the impressive archaeological center of Moray, famous for its circular terraces used by the Incas as an advanced agricultural laboratory. We will continue to the emblematic Maras Salt Mines, an extraordinary complex of more than 4,000 salt pools worked by hand since pre-Inca times, considered one of the most photogenic cultural landscapes of the Sacred Valley.
After the ATV experience, continue to Ollantaytambo Train Station to board the scenic panoramic train to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes). Enjoy one of the most spectacular railway journeys in South America as the train travels through the legendary Sacred Valley, surrounded by dramatic mountains, cloud forests, and the Urubamba River. Upon arrival, our team will welcome you and accompany you to your hotel. The afternoon is free to explore this charming Andean town, enjoy its excellent local cuisine, browse its artisan shops, or simply relax before your visit to the magnificent Machu Picchu Citadel the following day.
Day 2: Machu Picchu Town, Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary, Ollantaytambo, Cusco

After breakfast, we will board the eco-bus that climbs up to the majestic Citadel of Machu Picchu, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Accompanied by a professional guide, we will take a guided visit of approximately 2 to 3 hours, touring its main temples, agricultural terraces, ceremonial plazas, and natural viewpoints while discovering the extraordinary engineering, architecture, and worldview of the Inca Empire. For those who have booked in advance, there is the option of the optional ascent to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, two of the most exclusive hikes in the Andes.
After the guided visit, we will return to Machu Picchu Pueblo, where you will have free time for lunch (not included), explore its picturesque streets, or do some last-minute shopping before heading back. In the afternoon we will board the panoramic train to Ollantaytambo Station, enjoying once again the extraordinary landscapes of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. What are the Maras Salt Mines?
They are more than 3,000 salt pools at 3,380 m / 11,090 ft that have been mined since Inca times. Salty water flows from a natural spring and evaporates in the sun, leaving the salt behind. It's one of the most unique and photogenic landscapes in the Sacred Valley.
What is Moray and why is it important?
Moray is an Inca archaeological site with concentric circular terraces believed to have served as an experimental agricultural laboratory. Each ring has a different temperature, allowing the Incas to cultivate different species. It is unique in the world.
Is the tour physically demanding?
It is a moderate-level tour. Maras and Moray involve short walks on uneven terrain at around 3,400 m altitude. Machu Picchu requires walking on stairs and cobbled ground. Good fitness and at least 1 day of acclimatization in Cusco are recommended.
What meals are included?
Day 2 breakfast at the Aguas Calientes hotel is included. Day 1 lunch in the Sacred Valley is also included. Dinners and other lunches are at the traveller's expense.
Why combine Maras, Moray and Machu Picchu in the same tour?
It is the perfect combination to optimize time in the Sacred Valley: Day 1 you visit the lesser-known gems of the area (Maras and Moray), then take the train to Aguas Calientes to sleep there. Day 2 you visit Machu Picchu. This route is more novel than the standard Pisac-Ollantaytambo circuit and offers a different, equally fascinating perspective of the Inca world.
Is the tour suitable for all ages?
Yes. Maras and Moray are low-difficulty sites (short walks on flat terrain). Machu Picchu requires a bit more walking, but is also accessible for all ages. We recommend good-grip footwear and 1 prior acclimatization day in Cusco for visitors arriving directly.
What is the best time for the Maras, Moray and Machu Picchu tour?
It can be done year-round. The dry season (May, October) is ideal for better photos at the Maras salt mines (the white salt shines more) and clear skies at Machu Picchu. In the rainy season (November, April) the salt ponds have water and unique reflections, and Machu Picchu has a mystical mist that is also very photogenic.
Are the entries to Maras, Moray and Machu Picchu included?
The Machu Picchu entry is included. The Maras entry (approx. S/ 10) and Moray (included in the Cusco Partial Tourist Ticket) are not included in the tour price and are paid separately on site. When booking we will inform you of the updated cost.
Is the Maras, Moray and Machu Picchu tour safe?

The Maras, Moray & Machu Picchu package visits the Maras salt pans (more than 3,000 terraced salt pools), the Moray agricultural terrace circles (Inca plant acclimatization laboratory) and the Ollantaytambo temple.
