If you are looking for a short escape from Cusco with spectacular views and little-visited Inca ruins, the 1-day Huchuy Qosqo Trek is ideal. It is an excellent introduction to Andean trekking: a moderate hike, history, culture, and landscapes of the Sacred Valley, all in a single day with return to Cusco.
The route crosses open high-Andean landscapes and ancient pre-Inca trails until reaching the Huchuy Qosqo archaeological complex, with panoramic views over the Sacred Valley, before descending to Lamay and comfortably returning to Cusco the same day.
In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to begin the journey to Huayllacocha, the starting point of our hike. Upon arrival, the guide will provide a brief explanation of the route, safety recommendations, and time to get ready. The hike begins crossing open high-Andean landscapes, natural lagoons, and ancient trails used since pre-Inca times.
After approximately 4 to 5 hours of hiking, we arrive at the archaeological complex of Huchuy Qosqo, strategically located above the Sacred Valley, where we take a guided tour of its agricultural terraces, ceremonial enclosures, and aqueducts. We enjoy a box lunch with wide views of the valley and then begin the descent to Lamay, where transport will be waiting to return to Cusco, with an estimated arrival time of approximately 17:00 hrs.
